COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- When it comes to fast-food that tastes good, don't let the parking lot location dissuade you. These food trailers are cooking up some good eats.
"You don't really expect good food from a stand in the middle of nowhere," Luis Garcia, a customer, said.
Phat Hatties Smokehouse Barbecue, the kettle corn stand, and Olde Town Creperie have turned into a nice surprise for local foodies.
Sandy Bracken, the owner of the Olde Town Creperie, has been based at the corner of the Union Boulevard and Academy Boulevard parking lot in Colorado Springs for almost nine months, and having a regular location has helped business. She's gone from 23 people on her customer email list to 600.
"It's very convenient. There's a lot of traffic here at Union and Academy, and there's a lot of people that are curious," Bracken said.
Curiosity is what got Rose Elder and her daughter to pull over.
"We were out [Saturday] and my daughter said, 'Let's try it and see. You've never had [a crepe].' We'll come back and get another, they were really good," Elder said.
Repeat business has helped all three of the food trailers. Phat Hatties Smokehouse Barbecue has turned into a hot commodity for barbecue lovers, voted the best brisket in 2009. Their business is going so well they've now branched out to a restaurant.
