EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- El Paso County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Monday morning who allegedly broke into a home and tried to assault a woman with a knife.
Deputies said around 7:10 a.m. 45-year-old Joseph Ingram forced his way into a house in the Cimarron Hills area and attempted to assault the homeowner with a knife. The woman was able to escape out her back door after a struggle and called police from a neighbor's house.
The woman described Ingram and his clothing, and deputies found a man matching his description near a nearby dumpster while on patrol. They arrested him after the woman identified Ingram as the man who had tried assaulting her.
Deputies also found clothes in the dumpster matching the clothes the woman said Ingram had been wearing.
Ingram was booked on first degree burglary, menacing and second degree assault charges.
Ingram also has a previous criminal history out of New York, where he was convicted of burglary, sexual assault, kidnapping and arson
