3 hurt in rollover crash on first day of school

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Three people are in the hospital with serious to critical injuries after a rollover car crash near Sand Creek High School on the first day of school Monday.

Colorado Springs Police officers said a Nissan SUV driving southbound on Peterson Road was t-boned while making a left-hand turn into Sand Creek High School around 7:11 a.m.

A Ford pickup truck driving north on Peterson hit the SUV, causing it to roll.

A 13-year-old girl was trapped inside the SUV until Colorado Springs firefighters arrived and were able to extract her.

There were two people in the SUV, including the 13-year-old, and one person in the truck.  All were taken to the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
