COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police Department SWAT teams surrounded two residences in the city Thursday, one day after three separate shooting incidents led to four deaths and two hospitalizations.
Around 8 a.m. SWAT teams, along with bomb squad officials, surrounded a home in the 2500 block of Gina Drive in the southeast part of the city. Officers said they were looking for a suspect in the Auto Zone shooting from Wednesday.
The home was empty when officers finally entered.
The second incident happened just after noon. SWAT teams surrounded an apartment in The Resort At University Park in the 4600 block of Whistler Point, which is in the northern part of the city.
After speaking over a megaphone for the suspect to come out, SWAT team entered the apartment. A woman who lived in the apartment below the one being targeted said she heard loud banging and possibly a bomb squad robot inside.
The apartment was also empty.
Officers said the second suspect is in connection with the triple shooting on Mia Loma Circle Wednesday.
In both cases, neighbors were told to stay inside.
