COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers are on alert after three separate shooting incidents Wednesday night in the city left four dead and two in the hospital.
The first incident happened at the Auto Zone store on the northwest corner of Palmer Park Boulevard and Powers Boulevard. Officers received a call of shots fired in the 5700 block of Palmer Park Boulevard around 8:09 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found a man dead in the parking lot and another man with a gunshot wound in the store.
The suspect had stolen a car and had taken a man hostage, fleeing the scene before police arrived. The hostage was released near Palmer Park and Academy Boulevard unharmed, and the suspect ditched the car at Maizeland Road and Academy.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white man in his 40s with short cropped graying hair, wearing dark-colored shorts, a dark-colored t-shirt and a black baseball cap.
The second shooting happened about a half hour later and involved three Colorado Springs Police officers.
Officers received a disturbance call around 8:28 p.m. at the Camelot Apartments in the 400 block of Murray Boulevard. When they arrived, they saw a man with a handgun in the parking lot. He fled the parking lot and went into an apartment, where police again met up with him.
Three officers shot the 21-year-old man, who was taken to a hospital.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The third incident happened around 10:21 p.m. Officers received multiple calls for a shooting in the 5200 block of Mira Loma Circle. When officers arrived, they found two people dead from apparent gunshot wounds, and a third who had been shot. The third victim died at the hospital.
Police do not have any information on any suspects in this case.
Police have not released names of victims in any of the shootings.
