COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A former Colorado Springs police officer suspected of sexually abusing at least six children is now accused of abusing a total of 22 victims.

Prosecutors filed additional charges against 30-year-old Joshua Carrier during a court hearing on Tuesday but didn't provide any details about the new allegations.

The former school resource officer has now been charged with a total of 189 counts of felony sexual assault. He resigned in June.

Court documents have been sealed in the case.

Carrier's lawyer, Christopher Decker, declined to comment immediately but told The Gazette that he planned to issue a written statement later.
