COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police have arrested a man who they said sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl Wednesday evening.
It happened just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 Block of South Chelton Road near Fountain Boulevard.
Officials said a 12-year-old girl was walking in the hallway of her apartment building when a man grabbed her.
The suspect, 37-year-old Guylyn Patrick, started fondling the girl and attempted to carry her back into his apartment.
That's when one of the neighbors in the building confronted him.
When police arrived at the scene, about 20 other residents in the complex had gathered and trapped Patrick inside an apartment.
Police arrested Patrick, charging him with second degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a child and felony menacing.
