Families have to pay for headstone damage

CANON CITY, COLO. -- Canon City Police officers are investigating a vandalism case at Lakeside Cemetery in which $12,000 worth of damage to 10 headstones was found Wednesday morning.

Police said it happened sometime between 5:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The cost of repair is not covered by insurance, so the families of the gravestones affected must pay if they want to have the stones repaired.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Canon City police or CrimeStoppers.
