COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- It's not everyday that a 13-year old gets to be an honorary Air Force cadet.
But Simon Wright got that special opportunity. Simon has a rare disease called aplastic anemia. Complications have required him to obtain a bone marrow transplant, which will have strong effects.
The Make a Wish Foundation and the Air Force Academy have come together to grant him a special request. Simon got to experience life as an Air Force cadet, including pilot "training" and learning what it takes to be a skydiver.
Jonathan Primeaux is a skydiver at the Academy, and he was happy to give the family a tour through a portion of his job. He was happy to see Simon open up and experience cadet life.
"This is helping me out by doing stuff," Simon said. "I won't be able to do this once I've had my bone marrow transplant."
