FREMONT COUNTY, COLO. -- Nearly a week after a rockslide closed a portion of U.S. Highway 50 between Canon City and Salida, the road has reopened to traffic.

A 46-mile stretch of the highway had been closed since last Monday after the major rock slide blocked both lanes.

The debris field was 100 feet long and 20 feet wide, and the shortest detour was more than 100 miles.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) said they will have crews out later this week patching damage to the road, and warned lane closures are possible.
