COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Fort Carson soldier Robert Marko has been found guilty of first degree murder.

After deliberation, the jury delivered the verdict around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.  He has been guaranteed life without parole.

The Fort Carson soldier confessed to raping and murdering 19-year-old Judilianna Lawrence Oct. 10, 2008.  Marko told investigators he had sex with Lawrence before he slashed her throat.

He pleaded not guilty for reason of insanity.

Investigators said Marko led them to the body, which was dumped in the woods off Old Stage Road west of Colorado Springs.

Marko was also found guilty of four other sexual assault charges and found not guilty for felony murder.

Six Fort Carson soldiers, including Marko, were accused of murder during a one-year span from 2007-2008.
