COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Fort Hood's Patriot Elementary is just a few votes away from winning a prize that will bring joy to hundreds of deployed soldiers.

The "Our School Needs" contest runs through Sunday, November 7. Until then, people can vote for Patriot Elementary to receive a $100,000 prize for new technological equipment.

Donna Sabala, with the school, says if Patriot Elementary won the money, it would be spent on camcorders and other equipment that would allow students to upload video and pictures overseas to deployed parents and loved ones. Some of the military have been deployed several times and have not been able to share special moments with their children. This prize would help fix that.

The winner is determined by the largest number of votes. As of Friday afternoon, Patriot was in second place behind a school in Georgia. Anyone can vote. All you have to do is go to the school's website, register, and vote for your favorite school.

Or, you can go directly to the "Our School Needs" website: http://ourschoolneeds.discoverbing.com/Default.aspx#fbid=UCUtwd_joAh&wom=false.
