Five arrested in Canon City crime spree

CANON CITY, COLO. -- Police and deputies have arrested five men in conjunction with a Canon City crime spree believed to have gone back to the beginning of August.

Members of the Freemont County Combined Investigative Response Team, the Freemont County Sheriff's Office and the Canon City Police Department teamed up to arrest Chase Schamp, Carlos Cruze, Cory Cockerham, Dalton Buckholtz and Ralph Sanders for several car thefts, a number of car burglaries, and other attempted and completed burglaries.

Cruze was charged with theft, Sanders with burglary, motor vehicle theft and tresspassing, Buckholtz and Cockerham with burglary and tresspassing, and Schamp with tresspassing.

All are at the Freemont County Detention Facility on bonds ranging from $10,000-$50,000.

Police said they are anticipating more arrests in these cases. They are asking anyone with information to call detectives at 719-276-5613.
