LARIMER COUNTY, COLO. -- Larimer County prosecutors say they need more information before deciding whether to file criminal charges against two people suspected of accidentally starting a wildfire that destroyed two homes in the foothills west of Loveland.

Sheriff's investigators presented their evidence to the district attorney's office last week.

They say residents were burning leaves, branches and other debris without a required permit.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reported Tuesday that prosecutors are seeking more information.

The fire blackened 750 acres or just over one square mile.

It was reported Sept. 12 and contained Sept. 16.

The Loveland Reporter-Herald reports the price of fighting the fire was nearly $3 million.
