COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Update Friday 7:30 p.m.

Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) continued its investigation Friday into a deadly shooting that happened Thursday night.

The incident happened about 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of east Las Vegas Street near Nevada Avenue.

"I was not really surprised when I heard, because I figured something like that might happen," neighbor Sean Hoskins said.

Hoskins lives and works down the street from where the shooting happened. He said he came home from the store around 8:30 p.m. to find dozens of cop cars surrounding his neighborhood.

Officials with the Colorado Springs Police Department said what they know so far is that two men were invited into the home on east Las Vegas Street, when a fight broke out between them and a resident inside the home.

"At some point while they are inside the home, there is an altercation and shots are fired, which ultimately results in the death one of the males that came to visit," Sgt. Steve Noblitt said.

Noblitt said the second man, 19-year-old Ryan Santistevan, took off in a truck with a woman, 22-year-old Felicia Cruz. He said the two were found a short time later in the area of south Nevada Avenue and Cimmaron Street where they were arrested.

Cruz was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant, and Santistevan for attempted aggravated robbery in connection with the shooting.

At this time police said they have not made any additional arrests.

"Right now we do not have any evidence to support the arrest of the homeowner, so that is why he was not charged, the information we have right now is that the homeowner was acting in self defense," Noblitt said.

Noblitt said police still do not know why Santistevan, Cruz and the other man were at the home to begin with. He said allegations that the fight was drug-related are premature.

Neighbors meanwhile said the shooting is not going to scare them out of their homes.

"I will still live here, it does not scare me, it is just something that happened, life goes on," Hoskins said.

Police are not releasing the name of the deceased male until his next of kin are notified and an autopsy is complete.

Update Friday 9:30 a.m.

Colorado Springs Police Department has released more information on Thursday night's shooting where one man was killed.

Based on the investigation, police say two men entered a home in the 300 block of E. Las Vegas Street with the consent of the male resident. A woman resident was also present.

A fight occurred between the male resident and the two men he let into the house. During the fight, shots were fired and one of the men who came into the home was hit. He died at the house.

The second man who came into the house fled the area in a truck with a woman. That truck was located a short time later by officers in the area of south Nevada Avenue and Cimarron Street.

Both the man and the woman in the truck were arrested.

The man arrested is identified as Ryan Santistevan, 19; he was booked for attempted aggravated robbery in connection with the incident at the home. He was also arrested on a charge of third-degree assault stemming from an earlier, unrelated domestic violence incident.

The woman arrested is identified as Felicia Cruz, 22, who was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant. However, she has not been charged in connection to this shooting incident.

No other arrests have been made.

Investigators believe that the individuals involved in this incident have been identified and contacted.

The identity of the deceased male will not be released pending notification to relatives and the completion of an autopsy by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office.
