DENVER (AP) -- Colorado prosecutors say a woman accused of causing an accident that killed two librarians had so much alcohol in her system, she was still twice the legal driving limit hours after the crash.
During opening statements Tuesday in Sandra Jacobson's vehicular homicide trial, prosecutors said tire marks at the crash site indicated she was going up to 85 miles an hour.
The January accident killed two Connecticut women in a taxi on their way to Denver's airport.
The defense says Jacobson drank a banana Schnapps cocktail after the accident while in the airport's cargo area. Attorney Charles Elliott says his client wasn't responsible for the accident, instead laying blame with the cab driver. It's an allegation the taxi driver denied during testimony.
