FORT CARSON, COLO. -- After tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, about 170 soldiers from the 4th Engineers returned home early Tuesday morning.

The homecoming was pushed back 18 hours from what families originally expected, due to flight delays.

The soldiers reunited with friends and loved ones who waited long hours to greet them.

While overseas, the engineers executed the largest move of a battalion-size unit from one theater to another since World War II. They also conducted more than 1,700 route clearance operations.
