DENVER (AP) -- An AirTran Airways passenger whose actions prompted the captain to make an unscheduled landing in Colorado Springs and a scramble of two military jets will be advised of pending charges against him.
Forty-seven-year-old Muhammad Abu Tahir is due in federal court Wednesday in Denver. The hearing was postponed Monday so an interpreter who speaks Tahir's native Urdu could be found.
Authorities say Tahir of Glen Allen, Va., was on a flight from Atlanta to San Francisco on Friday when he became disruptive and locked himself in a bathroom.
Military jets were dispatched to tail the plane, which landed in Colorado Springs.
Tahir, a permanent U.S. resident, faces the charge of interfering with a flight crew. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
