COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- It has been an interesting couple of days in southern Colorado, with some people seeing inches of snow in their yards to a dusting in other places.

At the intersection of Circle Driver and Interstate 25 Thursday, cars moved along without hesitation. Fom the looks of things you would never have guessed a large winter storm was moving through the state.

Residents in the area said they were expecting more.

"I actually thought it was going to get worse, but it still is a little slippery and ugly," Isabel Renz said.

"I was a little bit surprised, but I have lived in Colorado a long time and I know that depending on the positioning of the storm you can get more here or more up north," Jesse Cacciatore said.

Just a few miles north up the interstate, and drivers found themselves in a whole different world.

Snow and blowing snow made for hazardous driving conditions on I-25 and off the highway at Baptist Road businesses and even some schools were closed for the day.

Some residents of Monument reported more than 15 inches at their homes, but said it was nothing out of the norm.

"Because we are on the Palmer Divide we get it whether Denver gets it or Colorado Springs gets it. The ridgeline gets it all the time," Joe Coates said.

"We were in the southern part of Colorado Springs yesterday and it was raining. We have not been there today, but you know Monument always gets hit a little worse," Rita Carswell said.
