COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- * Rep. Paul Weissmann will introduce a bill today that would abolish the death penalty and re-direct funds to a state-level cold case. The Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons group hopes that the bill will be successful due to the 1,300 unsolved murders in the state that need extra funding to solve. The group will meet at the State Capitol today. Rep. Bob Gardner of Colorado Springs will meet with legislators and discuss the measure.
* Penrose St. Francis Hospital offered its "boot camp" class today while receiving a platinum level award from the American Heart Association. The class was open to the community. AHA recognized the hospital at the beginning of the class for its "Fit Friendly Award," which promotes physical activity and health in the workplace. The class is held every week beginning at 6:15 a.m.
* While Bruce Springsteen was the main entertainment at Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show, tickets for his "working on a Dream" tour, which makes a stop in Denver, went on sale this morning. Tickets were available at 10 a.m. for an April 10 stop at the Pepsi Center.The tour begins April 1 and runs through August 2.
