Friends, family pay respects
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Friends and family are remembering Judilianna Lawrence with a memorial.
Lawrence went missing Friday, and was found dead Monday afternoon.
The coroner ruled her death as a homicide, and says she died from a neck wound.
Twenty-one-year-old Robert Marko is accused of raping and murdering Lawrence. He is being held without bond in the El Paso County Jail.
Aside from soft music, all was silent on the street where Judilianna Lawrence used to live.
"I just wanted to come out here show her I really cared about her show my respect for her," said Shawn Dimouro.
A small crowd of former high school teachers, friends, neighbors and family gathered along the sidewalk.
"She was really soft spoken. She was the sweetest person you'd ever meet," said Kody Poston.
"She was always making me laugh, putting a smile on my face," said Shawn Dimouro.
Kody Poston planned the memorial with mom and dad's help after hearing of Lawrence's death on Monday.
"I wanted to have the memorial to let Judi's family know she wasn't alone and let her know there are people out there feeling her pain with her. We just wanted to keep her spirit alive," said Poston.
The memorial is letting the family know Judi will be missed, and reminding the community that what happened to Judi could happen to anyone.
"What happened to her wasn't right, and maybe if more people know about it they can prevent that from happening to themselves and others," says Poston.
