Pickup truck crashes into northeastern Colorado Springs gym

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A man was hospitalized after he had a medical emergency and crashed into a building in northeastern Colorado Springs Wednesday morning.

Police said the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. A Dodge truck was headed northbound on Powers Boulevard when the driver had a medical episode and became unresponsive. The truck veered to the left and went across all lanes of northbound and southbound Powers. It then went down an embankment, crossed a frontage road, went down another embankment, and hit the back of the Life Time Fitness building.

Police said the building's exterior was damaged. The driver was hospitalized for injuries sustained in the accident and for the medical episode. Police said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
