FOX21's Meaghan Collier visits Relax the Back to get some ideas on preventing a stressful lifestyle.
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Patrick Graham, owner of Relax the Back, says preventing stress at work is an important part of de-stressing your life.
"Most office bound" people spend much more time in their office chairs than in their cars, but they don't think about those two things the same way," Graham said. "Office chairs are provided by our job - -no matter how bad the chair is -- and people don't think about buying their own. Also, employers need to think about the increased productivity if they invest in ergonomic chairs and training for their employees on having a more ergonomic office space."
Here are the 12 steps to having an ergonomic office space:
1. Top of monitor at or below eye level
2. Monitor and keyboard centered in front of you
3. No glare on screen
4. Documents in line with keyboard and monitor
5. Negative tilt keyboard support
6. Wrists flat and straight
7. Arms and elbows close to body
8. Change postures often
9. Work in a slightly reclined, yet supported position
10. Take frequent short breaks
11. Feet flat on floor or footrest
12. CPU off desk
