COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The Pikes Peak Workforce Center held the annual Governor's Summer Job Hunt at the Double Tree World Arena Hotel.

"We have about 45 employers with over 700 job opportunities over the summer," said Dana Parton of Pikes Peak Workforce Center. "As of this morning we had about 900 youth registered."

The event is designed to connect youth, ages 16 through 21, with local businesses, to help them find short-term, summer employment. There were even brief workshops to teach job-seekers how to address potential employers.

"Before they come in to meet with employers we're giving them tips on how to dress, tuck in their shirt, take their baseball caps off, spit out their gum and put the cell phone away," said Barton.

There are future job fairs in the works, including one for adults on April 18 at the Double Tree. Visit the Workforce Center's website at www.ppwfc.org for more information, and for additional posted jobs.
