Veteran honors fallen deputies with hand-crafted works of art

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs man and former Army medic, Zachary Smith, left the military to pursue a career making beautiful works of art for our country's heroes.

He recently created pieces honoring fallen Douglas and Adams County Sheriff's deputies Zackari Parrish and Heath Gumm.

Within hours of hearing about the death of El Paso County Detective Micah Flick, he and a local firefighter teamed up and got to work.

Smith delivered Detective Flick's flag to the Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

He creates all kinds of custom pieces for veterans, current military members, police officers, and firefighters.
