Town hall meeting held to discuss future of Drake Power Plant

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Dozens of people attended a meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 5 to make their voices heard about the future of the Martin Drake Power Plant.

City leaders were on hand to discuss the issues.

There are several possible plans for closing down the coal-powered plant, with some closing earlier than others.

The Utilities Board originally planned to decommission the plant by 2035. However, there are discussions to do it earlier, like in 2025 or 2030.

The Board could make a decision at their upcoming meeting in two weeks.
