Springs Rescue Mission buys adjacent three-acre lot

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Springs Rescue Mission campus is growing. The nonprofit bought the Mountain States Pipe and Supply Building and its three-acre lot.

The mission had already bought part of the property for the Phase Two expansion. Buying the rest of the land will help them help more people.

"We recently purchased the remainder of their property," spokesman Terry Anderson said. "It was actually an exit strategy on the part of the business owner. He wants to move, wanted the property to be in our hands for future expansion. So yes, we did buy it, but we don't have immediate plans in our master plan as to exactly how we would use it. That's down the road."

Anderson said in two years, there has been nearly an 80 percent increase in homelessness in Colorado Springs.
