COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Youth Symphony shared the gift of music with students at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind Friday.
With the help of balloons, the deaf and hard-of-hearing students could feel the vibrations from the performance. Visually impaired students joined them for a hands-on demonstration.
With the help of the young musicians, the kids got a chance to try some of the instruments. Everyone had their favorite piece, but the percussion ensemble was the biggest hit.
"We have students who are receiving the concert through auditory means, through tactual means, through visual means, so it definitely is a multi-sensory experience today," music educator Julie Novak said.
This is the 12th year the youth symphony has performed with the School for the Deaf and the Blind.
