COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - More than 180 local families are getting some extra Christmas cheer this holiday.
Friends, families, and coworkers came together on Wednesday, Dec. 6 to "adopt" one or more of the most financially challenged families in our community.
During this time of the year, buying gifts for their children is beyond their means.
"So we've had U-Hauls come up and it's just amazing the outpouring of our community to these struggling families," said Marty Kemmer-Contreras, Community Partnership for Child Development Director of Community Relations.
The Adopt-A-Family program has been in place for more than 15 years.
