Suspect in connection with Pueblo armed robbery, carjackings arrested

PUEBLO, Colo. - UPDATE (12/16/17): The Pueblo Police Department announced Friday night that the suspect, Omar Antonio Valdez, was arrested in Colorado Springs.

Police have identified a suspect in connection with two carjackings and armed robbery in Pueblo. 

According to police, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of 24-year-old Omar Antonio Valdez. Valdez is wanted for robbery, menacing, and two counts of first degree aggravated motor vehicle theft.

Additionally, Valdez has two more active warrants for felony assault, menacing, and theft out of El Paso County for a $2,000 bond and a failure to appear for second degree burglary, first degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, first degree criminal trespass, and obstructing a police officer out of Pueblo County for a $10,000 bond.

Police say the armed robbery happened Monday, Dec. 11 at the southside Walmart at 4080 W. Northern Avenue. The robbery happened shortly before the menacing of a Pueblo police officer and two separate carjackings where shots were fired by the suspect.

Right now police say it is unknown if the carjacking that happened Wednesday morning on W. 29th Street is related. 

The community is asked to keep an eye out for a stolen blue 2006 Mercedes R350 with Colorado plate UEQ-505 that was taken at gunpoint. 

The second vehicle in the carjacking, a silver 2002 Hyundai Accent, has since been located. 

If you see the stolen car or have any other information on the suspect's whereabouts, you are urged to call 911. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
