Man found guilty of murder of Colorado Springs auto shop owner, sentenced to life

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - This story has been updated with sentencing information. 

A man has been found guilty of murdering a Colorado Springs auto shop owner last year. 

Eric Grant was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder after deliberation in connection with the July 2017 death of George Maldonado. Maldonado was killed during a robbery at his shop, Full Throttle Auto Service on North Chelton Road, on July 13. 

Grant was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 25 years. 

A second suspect, Derrick Davis, was also arrested in connection with the crime. Davis' next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
