K9 helps arrest felony suspect in Colorado Springs hotel

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A police K9 helped arrest a felony suspect in a southwestern Colorado Springs hotel Tuesday night.

Police said around 11 p.m., they went to a hotel in the 2700-block of Geyser Drive, which is in the area of Lake Avenue and Interstate 25, to arrest a felony suspect. They were looking for Donnie Croft, who had several outstanding felony warrants.

When officers saw the suspect, he took off running. Police chased him and deployed K9 Blitz. Blitz made contact with Croft, and he was arrested.

Police said while Croft was running, he tossed down a bag with a gun.

Croft was jailed on charges of possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
