Mineral County Coroner Charles Downing says another skier saw skis sticking out of the snow Wednesday and found Alex Singer buried head first in a tree well, the column of shallow snow that forms at the base of a tree. Downing ruled the cause of death as suffocation and hypothermia. Singer was in-bounds, on an ungroomed trail.
