Former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton will face Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck in an Aug. 10 primary. Buck achieved top billing on the ballots through the statewide Republican assembly last month.

Republican Jane Norton turned in 35,000 signatures to the Colorado secretary of state, which she says is more than enough signatures to make GOP Senate primary ballots.

Tom Wiens was a self-funded Senate candidate who planned to petition onto primary ballots. But on Monday, Wiens dropped out before turning in his signatures. Norton is still planning to petition onto ballots. Signatures are due Friday.

A Weld County District judge ordered District Attorney Ken Buck to halt arrests earlier this month if they were based on information from federal tax returns, which the judge says are confidential.
