A survey released Monday by the Apartment Association of Southern Colorado and the Colorado Division of Housing says the first-quarter vacancy rate was 6.9 percent, down from 11.7 percent a year ago. It was 5.4 percent in the third quarter of 2001.

Suthers was scheduled for a debate Wednesday against lawyer Robert Corry, who defends marijuana dispensaries and says Colorado puts up too many barriers for medical marijuana patients.

Police Sgt. Anthony Parisi told The Denver Post that investigators are looking at whether Jerry Nemnich fatally stabbed 20-year-old June Kowaloff outside her Denver apartment in 1973. Parisi says investigators have reopened the case and are interviewing witnesses.
