Thirty-nine-year-old Tammy Woodfin of Joaquin, Texas stuck a sign pole while sledding on a ski run at Kendall Mountain in Silverton on Christmas Day. The ski area was closed but La Plata County undersheriff Kristine Burns says Woodfin and her family had seen other people sledding there and assumed it was OK.

Silverton Mountain in southwestern Colorado and Echo Mountain west of Denver are opening terrain on Wednesday. Echo is offering $29 lift tickets through Dec. 18 while Silverton has $39 tickets.
