On Saturday, beginning at 7:30 a.m., eastbound Circle Drive east of Janitell Road will be reduced to a single lane for repairs to the piers. Regular traffic flow should be restored by the following Saturday.

City staff subsequently solicited bids from the private sector to provide program management for PPRTA projects. Nolte Associates, Inc. was selected and projects were restarted in mid-March. Approximately 50 percent of the projects on the City’s PPRTA Capital Projects “A” list have been completed.

The process required the project team to remove a section of existing water line at two locations and install a series of valves. The existing transmission line, more than 40 years old, needed to be relocated before excavation can begin to lower Academy Boulevard. Completion of this phase is expected on Friday.

Due to city budget cuts the city has cut 13 city Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA) project-related positions. As a result of the layoffs the city engineering division must now select an engineering company from the private sector to oversee the projects.
