The single-car accident at about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday severely injured the woman and temporarily closed Bear Lake Road in the park about 70 miles northwest of Denver. Park officials say the car landed on its wheels in Glacier Creek.

Colorado State Patrol spokesman Ryan Sullivan says the trooper was parked on a ramp connecting Colorado 60 to the interstate near Johnstown when a pickup truck struck the patrol car from behind around 6:45 a.m. Friday.

Officials say the pursuit began early Wednesday when the deputy approached the 17-year-old, who was parked on a county road. Authorities say the teen told the deputy he didn't want to talk and fled. Sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella says the deputy pursued, and the chase reached 100 mph.

Police on Monday identified the officer as Derek Stephens. Authorities say Stephens was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies with serious injuries. The nature of his injuries hasn't been released.
