Twenty-five-year-old Francis Hernandez, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was convicted Tuesday. Prosecutors say he was driving an SUV that crashed into a truck, which in turn crashed into a Baskin-Robbins store in September 2008. Two women in the truck were also killed. Prosecutors say Hernandez ran a red light and was going more than 80 mph in a 40-mph zone.

Francis M. Hernandez is on trial on charges that include vehicular homicide for the September 2008 crash in the Denver suburb of Aurora. Opening arguments began Wednesday and jurors heard emotional testimony from the child's mother, who clutched a bag containing her son's shoes on the witness stand.
