Farmers say the sugar beet crop was helped by a rainy spring and mild temperatures over the summer. There was little wind damage, and prices were high because a cyclone wiped out much of the sugar cane crop in India this year. Also, unseasonably cold weather in northern Wyoming in October damaged an estimated $12 million worth of sugar beets there.
