A second fire is burning across 170 acres on the Roan Plateau in western Colorado. A red flag warning has been issued for high fire danger across much of the central and southern parts of the state.

Park spokeswoman Carol Sperling said Friday the fire isn't threatening park facilities but it may have reached the boundary of the San Isabel National Forest. More crews are expected Friday to join the 30 people already battling the blaze.

While the fire is not posing any threats to park visitors or structures, it is threatening a historic "peeled trees" area that has meaning to Native Americans who used to live there. Crews have created a fire line around the trees for protection.
