Spc. Elijah J. Rao, 26, of Lake Oswego, Ore., was killed in Afghanistan on Dec. 5, 2009. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 77th Field Artillery, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division and worked as a field artillery meterorological crewmember. Rao deployed to Afghanistan in June 2009. He served in Iraq from October 2006 through December 2007.
