Johnny Rea of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services says at least 1,000 doses will be available. Clinics start Thursday. Vaccinations will be given to at-risk individuals, including pregnant women, parents and caretakers of children younger than 6 months, anyone 6 months through 24 years, people 25 through 64 years who have chronic health conditions, and health care workers.

The number of new cases has declined since the week of Oct. 11, when 339 were reported. Seven new deaths from the flu were reported last week, bringing the total to 45 for the season. The 25-49 age group has been hardest hit, with 19 deaths.
