The Defense Department said Tuesday that 22-year-old Spc. Jason A. McLeod of Crystal Lake died Monday west of Pashmul of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with mortar fire. He was assigned to the 704th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Carson in Colorado.
