On Christmas Day, Old Chicago Restaurant employees and 50 volunteers came together to provide a warm holiday meal to approximately 400 homeless and in-need families from the Pikes Peak Community Action Agency.
"This could be the only Christmas for some," said Jim Paulson of Old Chicago Restaurant. "And we certainly hope we can provide that experience for them."
In addition to the meal, children had a chance to meet Santa and receive a gift bag filled with new books, toys and a gift-card for new shoes. It's a thankful day. Both for those who have received, and for those who get a chance to give.
"We've always received positive feedback from our guests of honor and that's the heart-warming aspect of it," says Paulson. "I think that's why so many people are motivated to do this, is to be able to provide for these guests that maybe are going without this year."
