COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The anticipation is building as die-hard shoppers prep for Black Friday.

"We have over 50 shops and restaurants, and we have seven that are opening at midnight," Deanna Delarge, Marketing Director with The Promenade Shops at Briargate, said.

All across town, including at The Promenade Shops at Briargate, retailers are preping for the biggest day of the year.

"I just plan on staying away, it is to crazy for me," shopper Addison Green said.

"Not on Black Friday, to many people, I do not like crowds," shopper Duiani said.

If you are a die-hard and are planning to head out at midnight Friday, or any day before Christmas, there are a few things to keep in mind.

"We do recommend that people do not leave anything within sight in your car, put packages in your trunk if you have to make a couple of trips," Delarge said. "And shop in pairs if you can."

Also keep your purse and wallet close, and do not carry a lot of cash with you.

Simple steps to prevent the Grinch from stealing your holiday cheer.

"Actually I had not thought about that before, I think of Colorado Springs as being a pretty safe community," Green said. "I have lived in other cities where that would absolutely be a huge issue."

"You hear so many things about people getting their purses snatched and cars broken into, so yeah I am a little cautious," Duiani said.

If you are worried about walking to and from your car, Delarge said The Promenade Shops at Briargate will provide a security guard escort upon request.
