COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs police seized nearly three pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop early Friday morning.
At about 1:45 a.m., police stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Circle Drive, between Airport Road and Pikes Peak Avenue, for running a red light.
As an officer approached the vehicle, a passenger got out and started to run southbound. After the driver was detained, police checked the area for the passenger. He was not found.
Police did, however, find a large plastic bag that the passenger had dropped. Inside, several gallon-sized bags were found that had suspected marijuana in them.
Inside the vehicle, more gallon-sized bags were found with the suspected marijuana, police said. A total of 2.98 pounds of marijuana was recovered, police said.
The driver, 36-year-old Javar Harrison was arrested for DUI and other traffic charges. He was also arrested for marijuana-related offenses.
