PUEBLO, COLO. -- The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo (HARP) will close for cleaning for part of the week.
"We decided to try in it January to kind of help with the mud odor," said Lynn Clark of HARP. "We accumulate quite a bit of gunk at the bottom of the channel every year."
In addition to the cleaning while the water level is reduced, work will commence on the new Zebulon Pike Interpretive Display area. An interactive collection of life size animal sculptures based on the Zebulon Pike diary of 1806.
"It's going to be really neat for children to come see, families to come see," says Clark. "That you can see these great pieces of art. You can also see the kind of wildlife that Pike saw as he came through the area a very long time ago."
The statues are expected to be installed in the next six to eight weeks.
