COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. A candlelight vigil was held Thursday night for two women hit and killed while crossing the street in Colorado Springs.

Rebecca Robinson and Rose Arcuragi-Coulier were killed Monday morning while crossing North Carefree near Picturesque Drive when an SUV slammed into them.

Robinson's 14-month-old daughter was also hit, but is expected to recover. She was in a stroller at the time.

The memorial started around 8 p.m. Thursday.

Dozens of community members, friends and family members gathered where the accident happened to remember the two women.

Folks carried candles from the neighborhood where the women lived, then crossed North Carefee, temporarily stopping traffic.

Once at the memorial, they shared hugs, tears and stories about the two women they say were deeply loved.

Danielle Christensen, Rose's daughter said, "It's emotional, but it's good to know they have so many people that care about them."

Danielle said, Rebecca was a very good friend. So, she basically lost two close people to her.

"It's been a struggle and I'm moving out of the neighborhood because everyday I walk out the door, I have to see this area and see where they were killed."

She hopes there will be changes, like a lower speed limit or signs to let drivers know the dangers of the intersection.

The tragic accident also has many community members wondering about the safety of the street. Many said, North Carefree is a busy road and a hot spot for accidents.

Rich Coulier, Rose's brother was also at the memorial. "I hope that people will just slow down if you're in a neighborhood slow down, that's all there is to it. Watch where you're going."

The driver in the crash, Jennifer Eggleton has been charged with careless driving resulting in death and pedestrians right of way in a crosswalk, even thought there isn't a crosswalk at the intersection.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been set up for both women.

They include, the Rose Arcuragi-Coulier Memorial Fund in care of Wells Fargo Bank.

And donations can be made to the Rebecca L. Dillen Robinson memorial at U.S. Bank.

Donations may be dropped of at any U.S. Bank location or by mail: U.S. Bank, 6 South Tejon Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
