COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The family of an 18-year-old woman is asking for help finding her after she ran away from her Aurora, Colo. treatment center around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
According to Colorado Springs resident Andrew Ansardi, his daughter Amber, who has special needs, has not been heard from since the runaway. She is also from Colorado Springs.
Andrew said while Amber is capable of mimicking an 18-year-old's behavior, she actually functions more like an 8 to 10-year-old. She has not had her twice-a-day medications since Wednesday.
Andrew said Amber is very good at remembering how to get from place to place and said he thinks she may be trying to make her way back to Colorado Springs, though that is unconfirmed. The family is especially concerned because of the severe weather in Colorado at the time of the runaway.
Amber is 4'11" and weighs 120 pounds with short black hair and green eyes. Anyone with information on her should call police or the Ansardi family at (719) 930-9643.
